Minnesota Man Wins $50,000 Scratchers Prize
A trip through Missouri proved worthwhile for a man from Minnesota after he won $50,000 playing a Missouri Lottery ?Crossword? Scratchers ticket. Edward Savage of Comfrey, Minn., said he was driving through northwest Missouri last week on his way home from Texas when he stopped in Rockport to spend the night. He bought five ?Crossword? tickets at Rockport Truck Plaza, Interstate Highway 29 and Highway 136, in Rockport before going to his hotel room.
?I scratched off a few of them and then went on to bed,? Savage said when he claimed his prize Dec. 2 in Jefferson City. ?The next morning I scratched off the others, and I couldn?t believe it when I saw I won $50,000. I counted the words and recounted them again because I couldn?t believe it.?
Savage, 71, a retired iron worker, said he drives cars from Dallas to Minnesota for a Minnesota car dealer, so he makes the trip through Missouri a few times a year, but said last week was the first time he had purchased a Missouri Lottery ticket. He said he plays the Minnesota Lottery on a regular basis.
Savage said he plans to pay off his credit cards with his prize winnings.
The Missouri Lottery’s $3 "Crossword" game officially started April 24.
