Piedmont Caregiver Wins $50,000 Playing Crossword

Playing crossword paid off for a 37-year-old Piedmont in-home caregiver, who recently uncovered a $50,000 cash prize on a Missouri Lottery "Crossword" Scratchers ticket. Marjorie "Margie" Scharr said she plans to pay off her trailer and buy a car with her prize money.
Scharr purchased her winning ticket on Nov. 19 when she stopped at The Pit Stop, 1127 N. Main St. in Piedmont, to get gas. She scratched off the tickets later that night at home.
The Missouri Lottery’s $3 "Crossword" game officially started Nov. 20.
