Sedalia Cake Decorator Whips Up $1,000 Win

Story Photo A cake decorator for Multifood Inc. in Sedalia whipped up an extra $1,000 for the holiday season, when she uncovered the prize on a Missouri Lottery "Dream Stakes" Scratchers ticket. Sharon Twyman, 44, said she bought $5 worth of Lottery tickets when she stopped at Temp-Stop in Sedalia on Nov. 12. Twyman said she scratched the tickets off at home later, and when she discovered that she’d won, she tried to wake her husband, Ted, to tell him the good news. Twyman said she plans to use her prize winnings to pay for Christmas and for taxes. "We’re having a girls day today, too," she said, referring to a shopping trip she took with two friends on Nov. 19, when she claimed her prize. "Dream Stakes," a $2 game, officially went on sale April 24.
