Florissant Man Wins Trip On First Ticket
A 38-year-old Florissant man may ring in the New Year in Las Vegas after uncovering a trip prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Viva Las Vegas" Scratchers game. Colin Harkins said he only bought one of the "Viva Las Vegas" Scratchers tickets on Nov. 12, when he stopped at Citgo Howdershell, 420 Howdershell Road in Florissant. It was the first and only ticket he ever bought from the game.
"I’ve been to Las Vegas several times, but the last time was about 15 years ago," said Harkins, who is a salesperson for Brink’s Home Security. "My wife has never been. I’d like to go over New Year’s."
Harkins’ travel package includes a four-day, three-night trip for two to Las Vegas, round-trip airfare, a choice of deluxe hotel accommodations, hotel ground transfers to and from the airport and $500 spending money. The Lottery will pay 25 percent of federal and 4 percent of state withholding taxes based on the total trip prize value.
In addition to 60 trip prizes in the $5 "Viva Las Vegas" game, there are also thousands of cash prizes, including $100,000 prizes.
