Wheeling Man Wins $9,000

Story Photo A Wheeling man is $9,000 richer after he uncovered the cash prize on a Missouri Lottery "Triple Dough" Scratchers ticket. Guy Brown, 64, said he and Kathy Cavanaugh, 43, of Wheeling stopped in QuikTrip, 5501 Bannister Road in Kansas City on Nov. 13 to buy cigarettes. Cavanaugh had $2 left, so she bought two of the $1 Scratchers tickets. She played one, and Brown played the other. Brown’s ticket turned out to be worth $9,000. "I said, ’Babe, we’re rich,’" Brown mused when he claimed his prize on Nov. 16. Brown and Cavanaugh said they plan to use the prize money to pay bills, buy a new blue couch and buy new tires for Brown’s pickup truck. "Triple Dough," a $1 game, officially went on sale July 3.
