St. Joseph Man Uncovers New Vehicle Prize on Scratchers Ticket

A St. Joseph man recently uncovered a prize symbol worth a brand new 2004 Chevrolet® Avalanche in the Missouri Lottery’s "$100,000 Riches" Scratchers game. Anthony Ross, 47, said he bought two Scratchers tickets at Speedy Convenience, 1525 St. Joseph Ave. in St. Joseph on Sept. 24, on his way home from work. The first one he scratched off was the big winner.

"I’m tickled pink," said Ross, who works for Wire and Rope Corp. in St. Joseph.

The prize allows Ross to choose between a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche or Tahoe. Ross said he plans to take the Avalanche.

"I like ’the change for the dollar,’" he teased, referring to an Avalanche advertisement.

Ross, who drives a ’99 Jeep Grand Cherokee, said he plans to give the Jeep to his wife. He’s not sure what color Avalanche he will select, but he has narrowed it down to green or gold.

In addition to a new vehicle, Ross will also receive a check for $500 cash and the Lottery will pay standard federal and state withholding taxes based on the value of the prize package.

"$100,000 Riches," is one of three Scratchers games that are part of the Lottery’s "Lost Treasure Adventure" promotion. Players can win prizes in the games instantly, or they can collect game pieces to win prizes.
