Springfield Man Wins $10,000 In Viva Las Vegas

Story Photo A Springfield heavy equipment parts salesman can take his wife on a nice vacation after he uncovered a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Viva Las Vegas" Scratchers game. Stanley "Stan" Niezgoda, 57, said he almost bought only one ticket on Sept. 20 when he stopped in Johnson One Stop in Springfield, to buy coffee before work. "I thought I would buy one, but then I decided, ’what the heck; give me two,’" he said. The second ticket turned out to be worth $10,000. Niezgoda said he plans to use some of the prize money to take his wife, Carol, on a trip for her birthday. "Viva Las Vegas," a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale on July 31. In addition to a top prize of $100,000 cash, a total of 60 trips for two to Las Vegas are available to be won instantly.
