Illinois Woman Wins $100,000 Playing Powerball In Missouri

Story Photo An East St. Louis, Ill., homemaker and mother of three whipped up $100,000 for her savings account on Sept. 8 by matching all white-ball numbers drawn in the Missouri Lottery’s Powerball drawing. Joan Gage, 55, said she plans to save most of her prize winnings, since she lives on a fixed income. "I was in disbelief," she said recalling when she discovered her good fortune on Sept. 9. Gage bought her winning ticket at Shell, 3294 Telegraph Road in St. Louis. She let the computer pick the winning combination. The winning numbers were: 2, 4, 28, 33 and 52. To date, 703 tickets worth $100,000 have been sold in Missouri since the Powerball game started in April 1992.
