$1 Million Scratchers Prize Revealed While Pumping Gas

Jeffrey Cunningham of Springfield recently stopped a Kum & Go, 4020 W. Battlefield St. in Springfield, to gas up and buy some Scratchers. He decided to try his luck with a Missouri Lottery “50X Lucky” ticket, which would turn out to be a fortunate choice.

As he pumped gas outside, Cunningham scratched the $10 ticket and revealed one of the game’s $1 million top prizes.

“I had to look at it a couple of times,” he said of his initial disbelief.

Without making a scene, Cunningham finished getting gas and left, later presenting his big winner at the Lottery’s Springfield office to claim his prize. He said he intends to use a portion of the winnings to purchase a house.

In the most recent fiscal year, players in Greene County won more than $42.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers in the county received more than $4.2 million in commissions and bonuses, and an additional $24.1 million went to educational programs in the county.
