Brookfield Woman Wins Vegas Trip in Lottery Game

Story Photo A Brookfield gift store owner is packing for Las Vegas after she uncovered the prize on a Missouri Lottery "Viva Las Vegas" Scratchers game. Deborah "Debbie" Dority, 55, said she has been to Las Vegas a couple of times and loves it.

"My husband said that I couldn’t have won a better trip to a better place," said Dority, who owns Four Seasons Gifts in Brookfield.

Dority purchased her winning ticket three weeks ago, when she stopped at Break Time in Brookfield for gasoline. She said she buys $15 worth of Scratchers tickets each week, usually when she buys gasoline.

Dority said she and her husband, Dan, plan to take the trip sometime in the next six months.

Dority’s travel package includes a four-day, three-night trip for two to Las Vegas, round-trip airfare, a choice of deluxe hotel accommodations, hotel ground transfers to and from the airport and $500 spending money. The Lottery will pay 25 percent of federal and 4 percent of state withholding taxes based on the total trip prize value. In addition to 60 trip prizes in the $5 "Viva Las Vegas" game, there are also thousands of cash prizes including $100,000 prizes.
