Travis Sauer won $50,000 after matching four out of the five white-ball numbers, plus the Powerball number drawn in the May 25 drawing.

Sauer said he purchased the ticket on the Saturday of the drawing but didn’t check his ticket until the following Monday. Upon realizing he had won, he immediately called his father.

“I scanned it on the app and then I called him. He didn’t believe it at first, and so we had to go and see if it was right.” Sauer said, recounting the moment.  “I was pretty shaky.”

Travis and his father, James Sauer, decided to split the prize money. Travis plans to use his winnings to purchase a new ATV before saving the rest.

The winning ticket was sold at Barnes Mart, 509 S. Kingshighway St., in Perryville. The May25 winning numbers were 1, 2, 39, 43, 66, and the Powerball number was 2.

“Powerball" is drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. The multi-state Draw Game features jackpots that start at $40 million and grow until won. Saturday night’s jackpot is an estimated $53 million.
