PIPER PICKS A PECK OF POWERBALL

A trip through Missouri was not only scenic, but also lucrative for one Kentucky trucker. Lyndel Piper, 66, of La Center, Ky., purchased a Powerball ticket in Wyatt that turned out to be worth $100,000. "I guess I’ll just put it in the bank and look at it," Piper said. He may also use some of the money to buy his own tractor trailer. Piper purchased his winning ticket at Fisca Oil, Highway 60 West in Wyatt. He let the computer generate the winning combination, which was: 5, 12, 13, 45 and 48. To date, 439 Missouri players have won $100,000 in Powerball since the game began in April 1992.
