Waynesville Woman Wins Harley In Lottery Game
A Waynesville woman and her boyfriend found out at a motorcycle rally during the Fourth of July holiday that she won a new Vivid Black Harley-Davidson SportsterŽ 1200 Custom? motorcycle on a Missouri Lottery "Harley-Davidson" ticket. Brenda Wilkinson, 39, said she and her boyfriend, Mike Border, both love motorcycles and have been playing the Scratchers game in hopes of winning one. On July 3, she and Border uncovered one of the game’s top prizes while attending the Buckhorn Blast bike rally in Buckhorn.
"We couldn’t believe it," she said. "We had to keep looking at it. We haven’t slept or done anything for three days."
Wilkinson, who works for a Harley-Davidson mail-order parts shop in Waynesville, said neither she nor Border currently has a motorcycle, but they are both members of the Freedom of the Road Riders and big enthusiasts.
"I keep a helmut in the back of my truck all the time," she said, explaining how several of her friends have motorcycles.
Wilkinson and Border purchased the winning ticket on July 2, when they stopped at D & G Package Store in St. Robert on their way to the Buckhorn Blast. They turned in a $2 winner from the "Harley-Davidson" game and got five more "Harley-Davidson" tickets. They "forgot" to scratch the tickets until the next day at the bike rally, when Border uncovered the winning ticket.
"He’ll be my chauffeur," Wilkinson said about Border.
Along with the motorcycle, the Lottery will pay the withholding taxes on the prize package, which is worth more than $15,000. Wilkinson will also receive a $500 Harley-Davidson certificate valid at a Harley-Davidson dealership and a Harley-Davidson prize package.
Missouri Lottery players also have a chance to win a new Harley-Davidson Lava Red Sunglow Heritage SoftailŽ Classic motorcycle or one of 450 Harley Davidson prize packs in the "Ticket to Ride" promotion. The promotion, which officially started May 15, consists of three first-prize drawings and one grand-prize drawing. To enter the drawings, players should fill out the back of a non-winning "Harley-Davidson" Scratchers ticket and put that ticket in an envelope, no larger than business size. Only one ticket per envelope allowed. Players can enter by mail, on the Lottery’s Web site at molottery.com or by depositing entries at one of the Lottery’s four offices.
