A 57-year-old man from Springdale, Ark., is $25,000 richer after matching all five numbers in Saturday night’s SHOW ME 5 drawing. Vern Watson said he plans to share his good fortune with his two grown daughters. "I love playing the lottery," Watson said when he claimed his prize this morning. Watson purchased his winning ticket at Macadoodles, U.S. Highway 71 in Pineville. He used a combination of some of his relative’s lucky numbers and birthdays to win the prize. The winning numbers were: 5, 6, 9, 17 and 24. Watson’s ticket is the 709th SHOW ME 5 ticket sold worth $25,000 tax paid* since the game began in November 1994. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
