Ellington Man Wins $100,000 Using Lucky Quarter
An Ellington man, who has been joking around about scratching his Missouri Lottery tickets with a lucky quarter, uncovered a $100,000 prize on a "Super Cash" Scratchers ticket on June 7. Roy Fox, 71, said he is known to "razzle dazzle" patrons at Don’s Place in Ellington, where he bought his winning ticket.
"That’s where I do all my scratchin’," he said. "I go there every day, and I aggravate everyone that comes in."
Fox said he found his lucky quarter ? a brand new Missouri quarter ? on the parking lot of a grocery store about seven weeks ago. He has been using it to scratch off his Missouri Lottery tickets ever since.
Fox, a retired Prudential Insurance agent and current farmer, said he plans to trade in his old Cadillac and buy a new one with his prize money. He also may take a little vacation.
"I’ll take a nice vacation," he said. "I think I’m going to Reno."
Fox said since he uncovered the big prize, more people have been buying tickets at Don’s Place.
"They’re scratchin’ like they have fleas," he mused. "Two or three of them have used my lucky quarter."
"Super Cash," a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale on April 24.
