Joplin Woman Wins $50,000 Instantly

Story Photo Playing crossword paid off for a Joplin woman, who recently uncovered a $50,000 cash prize on a Missouri Lottery "Crossword" Scratchers ticket. Jennifer Waterman, 36, said she bought two "Crossword" tickets on June 1; she gave one to her roommate, and she kept one for herself. Her ticket turned out to be worth the game’s top prize. "It seems like it (winning) came at the right time," she said. Waterman said she plans to share some of her prize money with her mom and her roommate. She also plans to buy a new vehicle and take a small trip this summer. Waterman purchased the winning ticket at Fastrip, 403 N. Main in Joplin. The Missouri Lottery’s $3 "Crossword" game officially started April 24.
