St. Joseph Corrections Officer Locks Up $30,000 Win

Story Photo A corrections officer in St. Joseph thought he won a $30 Lottery prize, but after looking at his ticket more closely, he realized he won the top prize of $30,000. Stephen "Steve" King, 43, said he stopped at Kwik Pantry, 2143, St. Joseph Ave. in St. Joseph, on May 8 to buy some cigarettes and $5 worth of Missouri Lottery tickets. One of his three tickets, a "Triple Moneybags" ticket, turned out to be worth $30,000. King said he plans to use his prize money to buy a pre-owned car and take care of a few bills. "I’ll put some in savings, too," said King, who is a corrections officer at Western Regional Diagnostic Center. The Missouri Lottery’s $2 "Triple Moneybags" game officially started Jan. 31.
