Richmond Woman Finds $27,777 Prize

Story Photo A medical assistant from Richmond can now convert her horse trailer into living quarters after finding a $27,777 top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Red Hot 7’s" Scratchers game. Susan Duffett, 40, said she also plans to pay off some bills with the prize money. "I just bought a new horse trailer," she said. "I’m going to convert it to living quarters." Duffett said it originally was going to take about a year or so to finish the conversion, but now with the prize winnings, she and her husband, Duane, can do it right away. Duffett purchased her winning ticket on May 5 at BP Amoco of Richmond, 101 S. Spartan Drive in Richmond. She stopped there to redeem an $8 Lottery prize she had won previously. With the $8 in winnings, she bought four $2 tickets; the big winner was the second ticket she played. "Red Hot 7?s," a $2 Scratchers game, officially began on Dec. 24.
