CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR SPRINGFIELD WOMAN

A Springfield woman and her family are celebrating Christmas a little early this year after she won $25,000 tax paid* playing the Missouri Lottery’s SHOW ME 5 game. Marie Arnold, 57, won the game’s top prize after her ticket matched all five numbers drawn Sunday. Arnold said she’s been "jumping up and down" since discovering her win Sunday night. "Oh, I couldn’t believe it," she said when she claimed her prize today at the Lottery’s Springfield office. "I’ve been jumping up and down for two days." Arnold purchased her winning ticket at Albertson’s, 1570 W. Battlefield in Springfield. She selected the winning numbers at random. They were: 1, 2, 16, 27 and 30. Arnold said she and her husband, Karl, plan to share their winnings with their family and church. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
