$50,000 Tax Paid Prize To Expire In One Week

A $50,000 tax-paid prize* sold at Convenient Food Mart, 701 Eastland Drive in Jefferson City, is set to expire in one week. The SHOW ME 5 Paydown ticket, sold there for the Oct. 20, 2003, drawing, expires on April 17. The winning numbers were: 11, 12, 32, 34 and 41. "If you buy Lottery tickets at this store, I would make sure you don’t have any unchecked tickets," said Gary Gonder, director of communications for the Missouri Lottery. "A few years ago, a Kansas City woman found and claimed her Lotto ticket worth $1.3 million nine months after the drawing. She was doing some spring cleaning and found the ticket in the pocket of a pair of summer pants." If you find you hold the winning ticket, take it to the Missouri Lottery’s headquarters located at 1823 Southridge Drive. * The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on it’s value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
