St. James Man Has Extra Cash For Wedding Anniversary

Story Photo A St. James man can celebrate his upcoming 28th wedding anniversary in style after finding a $10,000 prize on a "High Stakes" Scratchers game on April 2. William "Bill" Douglas, 47, said he and his wife plan to celebrate with an overnight trip. "Our son is going to college next fall, so some of this will go toward that," he said. "We’ll also use some to pay bills." Douglas purchased his winning ticket at Spurgeon’s 66 Service in St. James. Douglas, who works for Briggs and Stratton in Rolla, said this was the second time he has won a big prize playing the Missouri Lottery. He also won $10,000 in December 2002 on a $5 Christmas-theme Scratchers ticket. "High Stakes," a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale on Feb. 26.
