New Haven Steel Worker Secures $10,000 Playing MONOPOLY

Story Photo A welder from New Haven put together an easy $10,000 after he bought just one "Super MONOPOLY" Scratchers ticket from the Missouri Lottery. Mark Canania, 28, said he stopped in Fas-Trip, 904 E. 5th St. in Washington, on April 4 to buy a soda and use the restroom. While there, he decided to buy one $5 ticket. "I saw it (ticket) sticking out," he said. "I never buy $5 tickets; in fact, I think it was the first one I’ve ever bought." Canania, who works as a welder for Canam Steel in Washington, said he plans to use his prize winnings to fix his car and do "whatever I feel like at the time." "Super MONOPOLY," a $5 Scratchers game, officially began Dec. 25, 2003.
