Independence Grandma Wins $30,000 On Bingo Ticket

Story Photo A young Independence grandma found an early Easter surprise when she uncovered her $2 "Diamond Bingo" Missouri Lottery ticket and found out it was worth $30,000. Tracy Spurlock, 32, said she only bought one ticket when she stopped at Little General Store, 19300 E. 24 Highway in Independence, on April 5 to get gas and beer. "It couldn’t have come at a better time," she said. Spurlock said she plans to use the prize money to have her truck painted and pay off some bills. She and her husband, Jimmy, plan to use some prize money to buy Easter gifts for her six children and one granddaughter, who was born on St. Patrick’s Day. "They’re going to have a good Easter this year," said Spurlock, who is a certified nurses’ assistant. "I’m going to take my grandbaby shopping." The Missouri Lottery’s $2 "Diamond Bingo" game officially started Dec. 24, 2003.
