Mountain Grove Bricklayer Finds Pot Of Gold On St. Patrick's Day

Story Photo A bricklayer from Mountain Grove built up $10,000 for his finances after playing the Missouri Lottery’s "Diamond Bingo" Scratchers game. Virgle Rhodes, 60, said this is the second time he’s won a large prize playing the Lottery. Last fall, he won a trip for two to Las Vegas in the Lottery’s "$100,000 Vegas Money" Scratchers game. He purchased both of his winning tickets at Town & Country Supermarket, 411 W. 3rd St. in Mountain Grove. "I’ll use it (new prize money) to go to Vegas," Rhodes said. "I haven’t taken the trip yet." Rhodes said he bought a $2 "Diamond Bingo" and a $3 "Crossword" Scratchers ticket on St. Patrick’s Day. "It (winning) was a good feeling," he said. In addition to spending money for his upcoming trip to Las Vegas, Rhodes and his wife, Phyllis, might use some prize money to buy a vehicle. The Missouri Lottery’s $2 "Diamond Bingo" game officially started Dec. 24, 2003.
