Eagle Rock Mechanic Buys One Ticket, Wins $30,000

Story Photo An Eagle Rock mechanic who tinkered with buying a Missouri Lottery ticket ended up winning $30,000. James "Jim" Wiggins, 55, said he went into Denjo Convenience Center in Cassville on March 11 to have some lunch. When he noticed he had an extra $10, he decided to buy one $10 ticket from the "$300,000 Casino Thrills" game. That ticket turned out to be worth $30,000. "At first, I couldn’t calculate what it was worth," he said. "When I realized it was $30,000, I almost choked." Wiggins, who is a mechanic for the Missouri Department of Transportation in Cassville, said he plans to use his prize money to pay off the truck he bought a couple of months ago. The Missouri Lottery’s $10 "$300,000 Casino Thrills" game officially started June 7, 2003.
