Brick Layer Adds $20,000 To House Fund

Story Photo A commercial brick layer from Quincy, Ill., recently uncovered a $20,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. Todd Schutte, 31, said he and his wife, Tana, stopped at Ayerco in Taylor to buy gas and a soda on their way to St. Louis on March 5. Since he had won $25 on a "Lucky Hearts" Scratchers ticket he bought there one week ago, Schutte told the clerk to "give me another good one." When Tana scratched the sole "Lucky Hearts" ticket off in the car on the way to St. Louis, they found out it was worth $20,000.

The Schuttes said they plan to use some of the prize money to help pay expenses on a home they are currently building. Todd Schutte may also buy a tractor, and Tana Schutte might buy a new diamond with some of the prize money.

“Lucky Hearts,” a $2 Scratchers game, officially went on sale on Jan. 14.
