Fulton Couple Win $300,000 Prize

Story Photo A couple who are both security aides at Fulton State Hospital are more secure themselves after uncovering a $300,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers game. Gordon and Hazel Plaster of Fulton said that they plan to pay off bills, buy a different vehicle, put some money in savings and help their six grown children with their prize winnings. Gordon, 50, said he bought the winning ticket on Feb. 19 when he stopped in Gerbes, 2020 N. Bluff in Fulton. He bought two $10 tickets from the "$300,000 Fortune" game and he scratched them off in the store. Early when uncovering the latex, Gordon saw that one of the five "mini-games" on the ticket was worth $50,000. "That’s when I started circling the store," Gordon said. In addition to working full time at Fulton State Hospital, both Gordon and Hazel, 57, work part time at Riverview Nursing Center in Mokane. "Mom always worked so hard, and they are very generous," said Dana Johnson, Hazel’s daughter, who was with the couple when they claimed their prize on Feb. 20. "It couldn’t have happened to better people." "$300,000 Fortune," a $10 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Sept. 13.
