Fenton Company Owner Claims $100,000 Prize

Story Photo The owner of an industrial dust collection system rounded up a $100,000 Powerball prize from the Jan. 28 drawing. John "Chris" Thompson, 48, owner of Airtrol Inc., said he was only one number away from winning the estimated $64 million jackpot that night; his Powerball number was 35, and the winning Powerball number drawn was 34. "I buy tickets now and then, usually when the jackpot gets up there," he said. Thompson said he discovered he was a winner when he checked his numbers with those in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The five winning white-ball numbers were: 8, 13, 17, 39 and 48. Thompson purchased his Quick Pick ticket at Shell, 12804 Manchester Road in Des Peres, when he was getting gas in his company car. He plans to put the winnings into the company’s operating capital. To date, 677 Powerball tickets sold in Missouri have matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $100,000 prize.
