Hillsboro Carpet Layer Wins $100,000 In Powerball

Story Photo A 25-year-old carpet layer from Hillsboro now can be his own boss after winning $100,000 in the Dec. 27 Powerball drawing. Jason Ferrell, 25, said he plans to use his winnings to start his own carpet-laying business. He also plans to buy a new car with some of the windfall. Ferrell said he bought three Powerball tickets that week, and the one $1 ticket he bought at De Soto Fuels, 614 N. Main St., in De Soto turned out to be the big winner. He said he doesn’t play Powerball regularly, but only now and then. Ferrell let the computer select his winning numbers. They were: 16, 17, 32, 34 and 43. To date, 674 Powerball tickets sold in Missouri have matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $100,000 prize.
