Shell Knob Man Rings In New Year With $30,000 Prize

Story Photo A self-employed log home builder turned $10 into $30,000 when he made his usual morning stop on Jan. 2 at Johnson’s General Store, Highway 39 in Shell Knob. Steven Parrott, also of Shell Knob, said he usually buys $5 or $10 tickets when he plays Scratchers and has also been fairly lucky playing Numbers games. "I had just won $250 playing Pick 4 last week, so this was a real shock," said Parrott. "I was jumping up and down screaming ’yes, yes, yes!’ The whole store knew that I had won." Parrott, 55, said he and his wife, Gordia, planned to invest half of the money in mutual funds and have fun with the rest. "My wife is looking forward to buying a commercial treadmill," he said, "so that’s definitely on the list." "$300,000 Club Casino," a $10 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Dec. 24.
