Winfield Woman Finds $50,000 Crossword Prize

Story Photo A 26-year-old Winfield woman is making several plans for the new year after uncovering a $50,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Crossword" Scratchers ticket. Nicole Faudi said she plans to use the money to buy a car, go back to college and put some money aside for her 7-year-old daughter. She also plans to take her daughter on a Walt Disney cruise in the near future. "I was hysterical," Faudi said when recalling the moment she discovered her win. Faudi bought her winning ticket on Dec. 29, 2003, when she and a friend stopped in Huck’s Food and Fuel, 1990 Zumbehl in St. Charles. Faudi bought two "Crossword" tickets; she offered one to her friend, and she played the other ticket. Faudi’s ticket turned out to be worth $50,000. The Missouri Lottery’s $3 "Crossword" game officially started Sept. 26.
