Mechanic From Leslie Wins $50,000 Tax Paid

Story Photo A mechanic from Leslie has an extra $50,000 tax paid this holiday season after his five SHOW ME 5 Paydown numbers matched all those drawn on Dec. 19. Arnold "Jay" Gregory, 43, said he and his wife, Jennifer, plan to pay off the loans on their car and truck, and they may help their two teen-age children buy cars.

"I would like to go on a trip, if I can get him (Jay) to," said Jennifer Gregory. "We didn’t get a honeymoon."

Gregory, who is a mechanic for Legends Golf Club in Eureka, said Jennifer bought his winning ticket at Pinnacle Mobil in Beaufort. She used his regular numbers, which consist of some of the ages of their four children. Two of the numbers in the combination Gregory changed a couple months ago. The winning numbers were: 4, 5, 18, 19 and 41.

To date, 63 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since the game began Nov. 6, 2000.

* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on it’s value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
