Strafford Man Finds $30,000 Prize

Story Photo An engaged Strafford man now has a down payment for a home for him and his bride-to-be after buying a Missouri Lottery "Blackjack" Scratchers ticket and winning $30,000. Kenton Stephens, 27, said someone bought the remaining instant tickets that he wanted to buy when he stopped at Cowan’s Rt. 66 Service Station in Strafford on Dec. 20. So instead, he bought some "Blackjack" tickets. To his surprise, one was worth $30,000. In addition to making a down payment on a house, Stephens said he also plans to use some money to help pay for some wedding costs. Stephens is employed as a dry wall finisher for Lloyd Littlefield in Fair Grove. The Missouri Lottery’s $2 "Blackjack" game officially started Dec. 10.
