Co-Workers Share $12,500 Club Keno Prize
Not watching the drawings paid off for two co-workers for the Hazelwood School District. Kathleen Bell, 54, and Susan Markmueller, 52, said they were at Lakers Bar & Restaurant, 1351 Dunn in St. Louis on Dec. 5. They decided that they would buy $10 worth of Missouri Lottery Club Keno plays, $5 each, and that they might be luckier if they didn’t watch the drawings. When Bell’s husband, Rich, checked the ticket later, they found out their 7-spot Quick Pick ticket was worth $12,500.
"We were just screaming," said Markmueller, who works in maintenance for the district. Bell is a secretary for the district.
The Bells say they plan to use their share of the prize money to take a cruise, possibly to Alaska. Markmueller said she plans to pay bills and buy some Christmas presents for her grandkids with her share of the prize.
Club Keno began in May 2002. Players can win from $1 to $100,000 per $1 ticket per drawing. Players who use Bulls-Eye could win between $2 and $50 for matching just the Bulls-Eye number and as much as $300,000 by matching all 10 numbers, including the Bulls-Eye number, in a 10-spot $1 game.
