MACON MAN WINS $10,000 PLAYING MERRY MONEY

Story Photo A Macon man recently uncovered a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Merry Money" Scratchers game. Dick Shofner, 60, said he stopped in Ice House, 1202 S. Missouri in Macon, on Nov. 23 to cash in two winning "Merry Money" tickets, both $5 winners, that he had bought previously. With that prize money, he bought two more "Merry Money" tickets; one of them turned out to be a $5 winner, and the other one turned out to be worth $10,000. "I’m definitely buying a 27-inch TV, or I might put some in the bank until I can decide what to do with it," he said. Shofner said before his big win, he always heard about everyone else winning. "Now, it’s my turn," he said. "Merry Money," a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale Nov. 1.
