ROACH RESIDENT WINS $100,000 IN POWERBALL

Story Photo A retiree from Roach has an extra $100,000 to spend on his upcoming cruise vacation after he matched all five white-ball numbers in the Oct. 15 Powerball drawing. Victor "Vic" Hofmann Jr., 59, said he and his wife, Sharon, had already planned to take the cruise, and the money will help pay some expenses for it. "We’ll play it by ear," he said. "I’ll probably buy a car for my wife." Hofmann said he bought the winning ticket at J-L Amoco in Camdenton on Oct. 15, when he stopped for gas. He let the computer pick the numbers on his Quick Pick ticket. Those numbers were: 6, 9, 29, 39 and 52. To date, 666 Powerball tickets sold in Missouri have matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $100,000 prize.
