Story Photo A golfing trip to Missouri paid off well for a Springdale, Ark., man after he won $100,000 in the Sept. 24 Powerball drawing. Tommy Tedford, 61, said after playing golf, his golfing partner wanted to stop by Macadoodles on Highway 71 in Pineville to pick up some wine and a few lottery tickets before heading home. Tedford, a medical technologist for the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark., said the next morning he checked the winning Powerball numbers on the Internet and could not believe his ticket matched five of the numbers drawn to win the second-level prize. ?My wife and I were getting ready for work when I checked the winning numbers,? Tedford said. ?I had to have her come up and check the numbers for me again, because I couldn?t believe it.? Tedford said he and his wife, Mary Gene, plan to give some of their winnings to their church, pay off some bills and start a college fund for their grandson. He let the computer pick the winning numbers. They were: 17, 19, 20, 28 and 47. To date, 663 Powerball tickets sold in Missouri have matched all five white-ball numbers drawn to win the $100,000 prize.
