BROOKLINE WOMAN IS DOG GONE LUCKY

Story Photo A Brookline retiree is the new owner of a 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LTZ after uncovering the prize instantly on Aug. 16 on the stub of a Missouri Lottery ticket in the "Dog Gone Lucky" summer promotion.   Shirley Huey, 67, said she is thinking seriously about keeping the vehicle, though she has never owned a Chevrolet product.

"I always think about the fact that I might win when I play," she said.   "You’ve got to think positive."

Huey, who previously owned Burl Huey’s Landscaping with her husband, Burl, said she has won other prizes before, but this is the largest one by far.   The prize package, which includes the taxes-paid vehicle and a check for $500, is valued at $45,183.

She purchased her winning ticket at Handy Food, 3905 W. Chestnut Expressway in Springfield.

“Lucky the Dog,” “Hot Diggity Dog” and “Summer of Luck” are three instant games included in the summer promotion.   Each game includes perforated game pieces that can be instant winners or they can be attached to a promotional game board to win prizes that include 2003 Chevy Trailblazers, Hawaii trip packages, cruise vacation packages, big-screen televisions, Gateway® computer systems, $1,000 in cash, $50 in Scratchers tickets and T-shirts.   The games and the promotion officially started on June 28.
