MID- MISSOURIANS UNCOVER THOUSANDS INSTANTLY
A Steedman couple and a Centertown woman found their "pots of gold" well before St. Patrick’s Day after playing Missouri Lottery Scratchers games.
Lucinda "Cindy" and Charles Serini of Steedman claimed a $9,000 prize that Cindy uncovered early this morning at Short Stop, 601 Airway Drive in Fulton, where she works as a cashier.
"I was there picking up my pay check, and I bought a few tickets," she told lottery officials.
Serini, 37, purchased five "Triple Cash" tickets and five "Fun & Fortune" tickets. One of the "Triple Cash" winners turned out to be a top-prize winner of $9,000.
The couple, who celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, plan buy a van with the winnings. They will use the remainder of the money to help complete a home they are currently building.
A Centertown woman claimed a $1,000 prize she had uncovered on a "Club Casino" Scratchers ticket that a friend gave her for her birthday on Wednesday. Cindy Heinz, 42, said her friend gave her a birthday card with four "Club Casino" tickets in it; one of the tickets was a $5 winner and another ticket was $1,000 winner.
"I already went to Wal-Mart and bought rollerblades," Heinz said. She plans to share some of her winnings with her friend, pay some bills and put the rest in the bank.
"I wanted to give her (friend) half of it, but she wouldn’t take it," Heinz said. "She told me that it’s my birthday present. But I want to give her something."
Heinz, who works at Unilever in Jefferson City, said her friend purchased the winning tickets at Gerbes, 2805 W. Truman Blvd. in Jefferson City.
"Triple Cash" is the 401st Scratchers game offered by the Missouri Lottery. It officially went on sale Feb. 23. "Club Casino" is the 396th Scratchers game, and it officially started
