University City Woman Wins $96,000 Lottery Prize

A University City mom will be cruising into summer in a new vehicle after winning $96,000 on a Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash ticket. Randi Welch bought the winning ticket at QuikTrip, 9404 Page Avenue in Overland, for the June 1 drawing.

“I forgot I even had the ticket and pulled into the gas station to get something to drink and took the ticket inside with me and scanned it under the machine,” she said, recalling how she casually checked her ticket after the drawing.

Upon learning that her prize was too large to cash at retail and that she’d need to go to a Lottery office to claim her winnings, Welch quickly got online to learn more.

“I go to the car, and my kids were in the car, and I pulled the website up and put the numbers in,” she explained. “And when I looked at it, at first I saw $9,600. I didn’t see the other zero. Then I looked again and saw it said $96,000 and instantly started crying and screaming and hollering and trying to compose myself so I can drive home.”

Though it was an emotional moment, Welch knew immediately what she wanted to do with the prize money.
“I need a new car. My car is, like, broken, so I need a new car. That’s the first thing I want to get,” she said. “I’ll just put the rest of it up.”

Welch’s ticket was one of two that matched all five Show Me Cash numbers drawn that night to win the $192,000 jackpot. The jackpot will be split evenly, and both ticketholders will receive $96,000. The other winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in St. Louis. The winning numbers on June 1 were:  3, 14, 16, 21 and 36.

Show Me Cash is a $1 daily Draw Game with a jackpot that starts at $50,000 and grows until it is won. So far in 2018, there have been 21 winning jackpot tickets with an average prize of more than $190,000.
All current Missouri Lottery Draw Games tickets can be scanned on the Lottery’s mobile app or on Check-A-Ticket machines at retail to determine if a ticket is a winner. Current and historical winning numbers can also be found here.
