Florine Tripp of Springfield decided to buy a couple “5X Bingo” Scratchers tickets to scratch at home on March 3. She never dreamed she would uncover a $55,558 top prize.
“I was on game six of my ticket and figured, ‘This one is probably a dud, but I’ll finish it anyways,’” said Tripp. “Then, I saw the ‘X’ and looked on the side and got really happy!”

“5X Bingo” game has six cards on the front of the ticket with the corresponding prize in the prize box printed next to each card. Tripp’s last card, game six, revealed her $55,558 top prize.

Tripp headed back to get the ticket checked by a clerk and make sure what she was seeing could be confirmed.

“When the clerk put it up to the machine to check it, she had her mouth open and this weird look on her face, and I thought, ‘Uh, oh,’” laughed Tripp.

The Springfield resident told her neighbor, who embraced her, and said this was “an answer to prayers.”

“I am moving to Kansas soon and want to be debt free. That’s the goal,” said Tripp about her plans. “Then, I want to invest the rest so I don’t spend it.”

Tripp purchased her ticket at Kum and Go, 777 E. Battlefield Road, in Springfield.
5X Bingo” is a $3 game that began on Jan. 22. It has a more than $8.4 million in remaining prizes, including four more top prizes of $55,558.
