SHELBINA COUPLE UNCOVER $50,000 PRIZE INSTANTLY

Story Photo A Shelbina couple can expand their vacation choices after uncovering a $50,000 top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Crossword" Scratchers game.   James "Sonny" and Marsha Young said they already planned to take a vacation, but they weren’t sure where they would go.

"Now we’ll really think about where we’re going," said Marsha.

The Youngs also plan to use their prize money to buy a new computer and to pay bills.   Sonny, 50, is the chief operating engineer at the water processing plant in Shelbina.  Marsha, 53, is an assistant manager for Dollar General in Monroe City.

Marsha purchased four "Crossword" tickets on June 6 at Abel’s Quik Shop, Business Highways 36 and 24 in Monroe City.   When she and Sonny got home that evening, they each took a couple of tickets to play.  Sonny scratched off the first ticket, which turned out to be the big winner.

The Missouri Lottery’s $3 "Crossword" game officially started March 29.
