UNION MAN CLAIMS $30,000 PRIZE

Story Photo A construction worker from Union unearthed a $30,000 top prize in the "Diamond Bingo" Scratchers game. Joseph "Joe" Smith, 38, said he stopped in Petro Mart, 1000 E. Main St. in Union, on Feb. 27 for a soda. Along with a drink, he bought two "Diamond Bingo" Scratchers tickets and went home. He let his wife, Brenda, play one ticket, and he played the other. To his surprise, his ticket was a $30,000 winner. "We’ll probably pay bills and put the rest in savings," Smith said. "We might use some of the money for a couple of trips." "Diamond Bingo" is the 395th Scratchers game offered by the Missouri Lottery. The $2 game officially went on sale Jan. 12.
