KIRKSVILLE MAN WINS $1,000 A WEEK FOR A YEAR

Story Photo A 38-year-old Kirksville laborer can relax after uncovering $1,000 a week for a year in the Missouri Lottery’s “Weekly $1,000 Payday” Scratchers game.   Ted Bringman, who works for B & B Construction in Kirksville, said he plans to take the prize money in one lump sump of $52,000 before taxes, rather than receive $1,000 a week for the next year.

“I’m going to buy a truck and a house I can remodel,” he said.   “I’ll save whatever is left.”

Bringman bought his winning ticket on June 5, when he stopped at the Ice House, 1312 S. Baltimore in Kirksville, to buy a Mountain Dew.   While there, he redeemed a $2 winning ticket from the same game that he bought the day before, and he used the $2 in winnings to buy one more “Weekly $1,000 Payday” ticket.  That ticket was the big winner.

“I almost didn’t buy the same one (game), he said.   “I’m glad I did.”

Though the tickets have been going to retail locations during the past week, the Missouri Lottery’s $2 "Weekly $1,000 Payday" game officially starts June 7.
