Joan Coyle, a St. Ann mom, is thankful her son, Thomas Coyle, reminded her to buy a ticket for the nightly Show Me Cash drawing on Dec. 13, after one ticket turned out to be worth $140,000.

“There are a couple numbers my mom always plays,” said Thomas Coyle of Woodson Terrace. “It was about 10 minutes to 9 p.m. when I got the tickets. Then, about 30 minutes later, I checked the tickets and called mom and said, ‘There’s $140,000 now attached to one of those tickets.’”

Thomas purchased the winning ticket for his mom at Crownway Mart, 3161 Ashby Road in St. Ann, just minutes before the draw closed. The winning numbers from that drawing, which included some of the Coyle’s family birthdays, were 4, 7, 12, 21 and 36.

Thomas said his mom is sharing her prize winnings with him and his brother, Michael of Webster Groves.

“Maybe we’ll go have a good family dinner, and then we’ll all figure out what we want to do,” Thomas Coyle said. “We’ll keep playing the Lottery!”

“It couldn’t have happened at a better time,” he added.
