NORTH KANSAS CITY MAN WINS $5,821

A public works employee from North Kansas City won $5,821 on the Missouri Lottery’s "Fun & Fortune" television game show, which aired this past weekend. Verna Menteer, Jefferson City, served as a proxy for contestant Jim Gorski 37, and competed in the show’s "9 Ball" preliminary round where she won $4,821 and a seat in the "$10,000 Championship" round for Gorski. During the later round, Menteer won an additional $1,000, bringing Gorski’s total cash winnings to date to $5,821. Gorski will return again next week as the champion. Gorski purchased his qualifying ticket at QuikTrip, 1010 Armour Road in North Kansas City. The store received $291.05, an amount equal to 5 percent of Gorski’s winnings, for selling the qualifying ticket. The other contestants and their winnings from last weekend’s show are: *Cheryl Land-Barton, Bismarck, won $5,398; *Charlie Baker, St. Louis (63119)*, won $700; *Sharon Buchanan, Sedalia, won $700; *Everett Mothersbaugh, Clinton, won $600; *Chris Johanning, Sullivan, won $600. Nine home partners won a total of $1,483 on the show. Russell Pruett, Kirksville, won $540; M. Mathina, St. Louis (63116)*, won $483; Jim Matuszewicz, Moberly, won $100; Ken Toppins, Bonne Terre, and Leo Basler, Ste. Genevieve, each won $70; Don Witfield, Pacific, and Donna Stern, Mexico, won $60 each; and Kathy Trapp, Perryville, and Karen Schubert, St. Charles, both won $50 each.
