A caregiver from Cedar Hill pocketed the top prize of $50,000 on a Missouri Lottery “Wild Cherry Crossword Tripler” Scratchers ticket. Mark Courtney claimed his ticket at the St. Louis Lottery office on Oct. 11. He said his win “was exciting.”

“I had to do a triple take,” Courtney said. “Then I had to go to the bathroom.”

He makes a daily stop at Circle K, 8401 Industrial Drive, in Cedar Hill, where he purchased his winning ticket. Courtney said he purchased his ticket on Oct. 7 and had to hide his winning ticket in a very unique place until he could get to St. Louis to claim his prize.

“I hid the ticket in my vacuum sweeper bag,” he shared. “Why would anyone look in there?”

Courtney said he hasn’t had a chance to think about what he might buy with his winnings.

“I’ll pay bills, but I haven’t had a chance to really think about anything else,” he stated.

As for winning tickets, Courtney has some advice for other Lottery players.

“Keep playing, they’re out there.”

"Wild Cherry Crossword Tripler" is a $3 ticket with a top prize of $50,000. More than $5.4 million in prizes remain in the game.
