$100,000 Win Leaves Man Speechless

A Springfield man was at a loss for words when he claimed a $100,000 prize. Brandon Vickers uncovered his prize on Sept. 8 after playing the “$4 Million Spectacular” Scratchers game. But his winning ticket stayed put until he could verify it at one of the Missouri Lottery offices.

“I was nervous, so I didn’t want to take it anywhere to check it,” said Vickers, who kept his winning ticket safe through the weekend. “It’s crazy to think how you would react when you hit something this big. I was surprisingly calm.”

Vickers bought his ticket from one of the new Lottery machines at Walmart, 444 W. Grand St., in Springfield. After playing a few tickets, he decided to try one more time.
“I scratched number 12 and saw $100,000. I checked it twice,” laughed Vickers. “Then I just walked straight out of the store.”

He showed his girlfriend, Rachel White, hoping she could confirm what he was seeing. White agreed with Vickers; this Scratchers ticket was a $100,000 winner.

“We are getting engaged,” said Vickers. “And I’m going to get a new car and pay off debt. Then we will put the rest in the bank. This is crazy.”

$4 Million Spectacular” is a $20 ticket that began on March 27. The game offers two top prizes of $4 million. Both top prizes are still remaining.
