Park Hills Dairy Driver Churns Up Grade A Lottery Win

Story Photo

Joel Lawson of Park Hills wasn’t sour when his stock-car race routine was interrupted after he scratched off a winning Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket to win $100,000. A truck driver for a dairy company, Lawson was watching a race when he decided to scratch his “Diamond Dollars” Scratchers ticket.

“I wasn’t sad at all that I missed the rest of the race after I found out I’d won $100,000,” he snickered. “It’s amazing.”

Lawson purchased his winning ticket on Aug. 3 at Park Hills River Mart, 10 Flat River Drive, in Park Hills.

He has condensed the options for his winnings down to paying off his home and maybe purchasing a new vehicle.

“I’d like to get a new pickup truck,” he added.

Diamond Dollars is a $5 ticket that offers more chances to win with a bonus play area on the back, plus top prizes of $100,000. Two top prizes remain in the game.
