SPRINGFIELD CASHIER RINGS UP $10,000

Story Photo A Springfield mom is planning to buy her daughter a class ring for graduation after she won $10,000 in the Missouri Lottery’s “Monte Carlo” Scratchers game.   Kimberly “Kim” Peterson, 37, said she also plans to pay some bills with the windfall and give some to her mom.

“I thought I was having a heart attack,” said Peterson, when describing the moments after she discovered she won $10,000.

Peterson bought several Scratchers tickets on May 6 at Kwik Pantry, 1360 E. Division in Springfield, where she works as a cashier.

“I wasn’t working,” she said.   “I just went in for a soda pop.”

“Monte Carlo,” a $5 Scratchers game, officially went on sale March 1, 2003.
